Meet the Director & Board Members

Sharita L Kayembe

I have a desire in my heart for young ladies to know who they are in Jesus Christ! It's my goal that each young lady live to their fullest potential by being empowered to set goals, have a plan, and be a leader in their community , their state, U.SA. and the world in whatever they decide to pursue in their life! My prayer is that all young ladies and women pursue their passion and discover their purpose through God's word and spending time with "themselves". I'm honored to have this opportunity to impact the lives of young ladies as well as them impacting my life!

Growing up as an active youth member at my church was the best thing that ever happened to me. I often find myself reminiscing about the good times we had and all the games we played, the plays we put together and the songs or should I say the song we used to sing to the congregation and the Friday night all night prayers.  Though at the time, it felt like it was unnecessary or a waste of time and effort, I could never put into words how much of an impact those meetings have had on my life.  I learnt biblical truths and principals which have helped mold me into the person I am today.  The friendships formed to today still some of my strongest bonds.  No matter which continent we all ended up in, prayer and the word of God have kept us connected regardless of the numbers of years passed.  I know the value of teen mentorship and it’s a blessing and honor to be part of such a vital and necessary stage of a teen girls.

I have chosen to participate with the Lamp Lighters organization because I believe it is important to give back to our community.  When so much has been poured in to you over the years, I feel that it is my responsibility to share with others especially young ladies what has helped me successfully survive.  The youth of today have so many challenges that we as adults can't fathom.  I want to be a listening ear and sounding board hopefully imparting wisdom to the younger generation.

I support this program because it will empower the girls to take on leadership roles and realize their full potential in school and beyond! In addition, it will build strong, trusting relationships, positive attitude, life skills in youth through mentoring and social entrepreneurship. This is the type of program that will help our youth become outstanding leaders of the future!!
